Darlene Carter Obituary

Kihei, Hawaii - Darlene "Dolly" Mae Martyn, 88, of Maui, Hawaii, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026. Born on May 23, 1937, in Seattle, Washington, she was the only child of Robert and Virginia Bradshaw.

After her parents separated, Virginia remarried and had three sons. Darlene stepped up early, raised her three younger brothers through their adolescence. She attended and graduated from Garfield High School in Seattle. At the age of 23 in 1956, she boarded a ship for Honolulu, Hawaii to begin a new adventure. Darlene gave birth to two sons and raised them on Oahu.

Darlene is now reunited with her beloved husband, Seth Arnold Carter, who preceded her in death in 2021.

She is survived by her sons, Tobias "Toby" Michael Lee Martyn and Que Martyn; four grandchildren: Mindy Kehaulani Martyn, Matthew "Mojo" Martyn, Keegan Makoto Martyn, and Caitlin Ming Mei Martyn; and three great-grandchildren: Anora Lilikoi Martyn, Ruby Michelle Martyn, and Stella Darlene Martyn.

Perhaps one of Darlene's greatest accomplishments was, as a single mother, raising and watching both sons become the first members in the family not only to graduate from college, but from major universities, and build successful careers.

A hui hou, Mom.
