Wailuku, HI - Darrin Wong, born on September 27, 1961, in Honolulu, Hawaii, was raised in Pālolo, a close-knit valley community within Kaimukī, where strong family ties and a deep sense of community helped shape his life.

He attended Ala Wai Elementary School, Jarrett Middle School, and Kaimukī High School, graduating with the Class of 1979. From a young age, Darrin was both mechanically inclined and artistically gifted, with a natural talent for free-hand art and automotive painting—skills that would later define his career.

Darrin began his professional journey at Crazy Shirts Hawaii, where he was recognized for his strong work ethic and dedication. He later continued his career in the automotive field with Roberts Hawaii and Midas, building a reputation for his skill, reliability, and pride in his work. In time, he fulfilled a lifelong dream by opening his own business, Exhaust Works, in Kahului, Maui—a true reflection of his passion for his craft and the life he built through it.

He had a deep love for the ocean and could often be found surfing, embracing the simple joys of island life. He was also passionate about classic cars—especially Chevys—and took great pride in his craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Known for his fun-loving personality and generous spirit, Darrin had a way of turning even the most ordinary moments into adventures and stories that would be shared for years to come. Whether it was lending a helping hand or simply spending time with those he loved, he brought enthusiasm, humor, and heart into every space he entered. Though he had no children of his own, he cared deeply for his nieces and nephews, creating lasting memories through time spent at the beach, the racetrack, and in everyday moments.

He is survived by his brothers Derrick, Daniel, and Darrow; his brother-in-law Pete; sisters-in-law Marlene and Roberta; and his extended family and many friends whose lives were forever touched by his presence. He is now reunited in Heaven with his parents, Dennis and Noralyn Wong, and his beloved sister, Harrylyn.

He will be remembered for his kindness, his passion for life, and the lasting impact he made on all who knew and loved him
