Donald Frank Miller
February 3, 1952 - March 1, 2025
Donald Frank Miller of Makawao joined our Lord peacefully on March 1, 2025, at home surrounded by his loved ones. Don was born on February 3, 1952, in Gary, Indiana. He served in the United States Marine Corps for 6 years and was stationed at Pearl Harbor, Oahu, where he met his beautiful wife, Liz. They were married and devoted to each other for 50 years. They were still holding hands when he took his last breath.Don had a great passion for cooking and considered himself a "foodie". He worked in many management roles in restaurants over the years of his life and retired from Sysco Foodservice in 2017, where he worked for 28 years as a Food Sales Representative and Sales Manager. He absolutely loved his job and his customers. He may be most known for his award-winning chili recipes and hot sauce, among other things. He loved to create dishes for his ohana and friends at many gatherings in their home.Don had a giant personality and presence. He honored his country and was deeply devoted to his family and faith. The void left in our ohana is huge and he will be missed dearly. We believe he is flying with Angels and will always be watching over us from above.Don is survived by his loving wife, Liz, his two daughters Lyn (Shawn) Hanley, and Charmaine (Dawson) Kahuhu, and his seven grandchildren, one of his greatest treasures in life, Hali, Hunter, Harrison and Harlie Hanley, Lilinoe and Kai Malie Yuen and Cross Kahuhu.Don was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Kathlyn Miller, and his brothers Wayne (Pam) Miller and Denny (Susan) Miller.Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025, at St. Joseph Church in Makawao. Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.
Tree Planting Timeline
