Lahaina, Maui - Guy Yamamoto, 72, of Lahaina, Maui, passed away peacefully at his home in Kihei on June 22, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on December 22, 1953, in Lahaina, Maui, Guy was the son of Stanley Masao Yamamoto and Carol Yamamoto. He spent his childhood in Lahaina and attended King Kamehameha III Elementary School before graduating from Lahainaluna High School with the Class of 1971. Following high school, he continued his education through a four-year program at Maui Community College.

Guy dedicated many years of service to Maui's hospitality industry. He worked at the Kapalua Bay Hotel until its closure and later continued his career at the Royal Lahaina Resort, where he was known for his strong work ethic and friendly personality.

Outside of work, Guy found great joy in the simple pleasures of island life. He loved fishing the waters of Lahaina and spending time on the golf course. Whether casting a line with friends or enjoying a round of golf, Guy appreciated the beauty of Maui and the company of those he loved.

Guy is survived by his beloved wife, Jin Yamamoto; daughter, Suki (Brad) Hammarlund; grandchildren, Annalyssa Cantu, Lucas Hammarlund, and Beau Hammarlund; brother, Brian Yamamoto; sister, Faith Corrales; and nephew, Bryan Corrales.

He will be remembered for his kindness, dedication to his family, and deep love for his Lahaina roots. His presence will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
