Harriet Tavares Takitani Obituary

Wailuku, Hawaii - Harriet T. Takitani, 103 of Wailuku, passed peacefully on April 27, 2025 at Hale Makua.

Harriet was born in Kula on February 24, 1922 to Nicholas and Margaret Tavares. The family later moved to Wailuku where she met and fell in love with her neighbor Ernest Yoshio Takitani.

Known for her calm demeanor, great sense of humor, beautiful singing voice and kindness to those around her, Harriet is deeply missed but forever alive and cherished in our hearts!

Her husband Ernest predeceased her in 1999. She is survived by: Patricia (Tinny) Baldovi, Ernest (Young) Takitani Jr., Jean (Bob) LeFave-Kahahane, Alan (Joyce) Takitani, Rosemary (Tom) Akina-Cooke, Theresa (Allan) Marciel, Christopher (Alicia) Takitani, Anthony (Audrey) Takitani, Donna Takitani, her brother Norman "Kenneth" Tavares, and 23 Grandchildren, 36 Great Grandchildren and 4 Great-Great Grandchildren.

A beautiful mass and private service was held at her parish-St Anthony's on May 7, 2025. Thank you for your kind words of sympathy, prayers, and most of all for the warmth and kindness shown to our family.
