Wailuku, HI - Jonathan Nohealani Pahuwai, 57, of Wailuku, passed away on June 03, 2026, at Maui Memorial Medical Center. Jonathan was born on January 17, 1969, in Wailuku, Maui and grew up on West Kuiaha Road in Haiku. Jonathan is predeceased by his parents, John Ha'i Pahuwai Sr., Gladys Luana Kauhaa-Po Pahuwai, and his eldest brother John Ha'i Pahuwai Jr. He is survived by his partner Kanani Keawekane, brother Samuel (Nora) Pahuwai, sisters, Minnie Pahuwai, Leinaala (Keith) Kealoha, Leimomi Pahuwai, Hanai sister Chelsea (Shadrick) Puaoi.



Jonathan leaves behind nephews Kaleohano Kealoha, Shaddy Boy Puaoi, Mana (Naomi) Palafox, Rocky (Briana) Keawekane, Chester (Heidi Sinenci) Taiseni & Chase Taiseni. Nieces Kailee (Darrin) Pahuwai-Makekau, Sunshine (Max) Palafox, Anela (Bronson) Prieto, Cherish (Bryson) Kealoha, Kapilina Ho'opi'i-Kealoha, Kimbree Pahuwai, Hōpoe Kealoha, Pohainanea Kauhaa-Po-Kailiehu, Makaheihi Kauhaa-Po-Kailiehu, Kaʻiliwai Kealoha, along with grand nieces Kylani, Kylea, Kylena, Kylohi, Kiele, Makamae, Ivory-Belle, Penelope, grand nephews Paoa, Mala'e, Nakoa, Kenneth, A'ali'i, Kanoa, along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, & friends. Jonathan was a self-taught musician. He was gifted with the ability to play any instrument. He loved playing his ukulele, entertaining at family gatherings with his brothers. Jonathan was a man of God and served his purpose at 'Ekalekia 'O Maluhia Church in Waiehu, Maui. He was a former commercial Sales Manager at John Deere, a former Auto Parts Salesman for Standard Motors & Marine Supply, and Car Quest Auto Parts.



The ʻOhana would like to take this time to thank Kaiser Rainbow Dialysis Nurses & Staff, Maui EMT, Maui Fire Department, and Maui Memorial Medical Center's ER nurses and doctors who cared for Jonathan. Our thanks and aloha also to Kahu Roy Newton and Deaconess Thelma Shimooka & 'Ekalekia 'O Maluhia Church for their prayers, guidance, and love for Jonathan. The family will be holding a celebration of life over ashes on Saturday, August 29th, 2026 at the Wailuku Community Center, from 10 AM a short service at 11 AM with a luncheon to follow.
