Sonoma, CA - Lee Olsen Tyrrell Barron, 55, of Sonoma, California, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Hospice Maui in Wailuku, Hawaii, after a seven-year battle with cancer.

Lee was born December 7, 1970 in Quantico, Virginia. Graduating with a BA in Anthropology from the University of California Riverside, and a Masters in Public Health from the University of California, Los Angeles, Lee built a successful career in Medical Writing.

She met Martin Barron at a wedding in New Orleans, and they later married and lived in his home town of London, England. Sharing a passion for new adventures, they eventually moved to Sonoma, after their two children were born, and discovered the blessings of a wonderfully strong and loving small town Northern California community.

Lee was a life long learner whose daily rituals included solving puzzles, studying new vocabulary words, and practicing foreign languages, Italian and French chief among them. Her formidable intellect made her the undisputed champion of any general knowledge quiz or game.

A passion for reading, acting, theatre, film, photography, and art defined a life rich in creativity. Her passion for writing intensified around a soul enriching retreat to Tuscany, Italy. She had several poems and articles published. As a lover of all animals, and an avid traveler, Lee made friends and deep connections wherever she went, and was always ready to volunteer and contribute to her local and far-flung communities.

Lee was a cherished wife, mother, daughter, and friend. She is survived by her husband, Martin Barron; her daughter, Ruby; her son, Luke; her mother Aysan Tyrrell; and her father Leon Douglas Tyrrell, U.S. Marine (Retired). Lee was many things to many people, but above all she loved, and was loved by, her family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held in Sonoma on Saturday August 15, 2026.
