Wailuku, HI - June 11, 1938 - June 7, 2026

Mercedes Valdez Cabatingan, lovingly known as "Mercy," age 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 7, 2026, embraced by the love of her family.

Born and raised in Wailuku, Maui, to Ponciano & Anacleta Valdez. Mercy lived a life rooted in faith, family, and selfless love. She was a woman who embodied kindness, passion, and genuine care for others. Devoted deeply to her faith in God, she lived and loved through Him every day of her life, guiding her family by example with grace, humility, and unwavering strength.

Mercy was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose heart knew no limits when it came to caring for her loved ones.

She is survived by seven children: Armelio Cabatingan (Michele), Josepha Beauchamp (Mark), Ernest Cabatingan Jr., Joey Cabatingan (Mary), Glen Cabatingan (May Lynn), Ernestine Kahalekai (Herb), and Joy Kaupe (Napa); siblings: George "Bobby"

Aquino, Cornelio "Coco" Valdez, Loretta Delos Santos, and Freddie Valdez. She was also blessed with 19 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren, all of whom carry her love and teachings forward.

Services will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at St. Anthony Church. Public viewing will be at 9 - 10:30am with Mass to follow.

Mercy's life was a true testament to love in action, and she will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
