Kihei, HI - Rickey Lynn (Wright) Haughey, 80, of Kihei, HI on the island of Maui, died on September 19, 2025, at her home with her daughter by her side.

She was born on March 7, 1945, to Jesse and Juanita Wright in LaFollette, TN.

Rickey received her bachelor's degree from Old Dominion University and later earned her teaching certificate at California State University Dominguez Hills.

Rickey adored children, especially babies, and worked as a special education teacher in Los Angeles, CA and Kihei, HI.

Rickey was at her best on the beach with a cappuccino in her hand and her dog by her side. She will be remembered for her infectious smile and spunky spirit.

Rickey is survived by her daughter, McKenna Haughey; McKenna's father, Peter Joseph Haughey; her daughter-in-law, Jessica Cathryn Haughey; her granddaughter, Katie Isabel Haughey, who lovingly referred to her as Tutu; her brothers Terry Richard Wright; Gary Samuel Wright; and her nephew Andrew Taro Wright.

Rickey loved the ocean and living on Maui over the last 21 years. At her request her ashes will be scattered at her favorite beach, Keawakapu in Kihei, Maui on Saturday September 27th at 8am.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Hospice Maui, who lovingly cared for her in her final months battling lung cancer.
