Makawao, HI - Roger (Rod) Wayne Black
Roger Wayne Black, 83, of Makawao, HI passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. He was born on July 5, 1942 to Joseph and Betty Black.
He attended college at Portsmouth Community College. He then went on to serve as a Coreman in the U.S. Navy.
He moved to Maui in 1973 and went into construction.
He eventually became a material Scientist developing many types of structural concrete, contributing to the quality and safety of Maui's building.
In his sunset years he enjoyed painting, writing and reading.
He is survived by his sons and daughters, Anthony (Corina) Black, Geoffrey Black, Christopher Black, Jamie Black, Jennifer Black and their children.
Granddaughters and grandson Kaiden, Koi, Rowan, Kaylee, Imajin, Abigail, Chrissey, and one great granddaughter, Mianni.
He will be having a private ceremony with a celebration of life to be communicated soon.
